I was a high-school drop-out who, as a mother, went back, started from grade nine (1992), and became an OAC graduate (1996) with a “Community Scholars Award” and scholarships in Environmental Science, History, and Communications. The motivation behind going back to school was my desire to be a good role-model for my children; the drive that kept me going was a love for writing. As an undergraduate I won the Edith Ellen Bollby Scholarship in Creative Writing and upon graduating (HBA in English Literature and Creative Writing, 2001) I was invited to apply to do my Masters. My Masters was kicked off with 9/11 and then the death of my father (which, outside of the impact they had on me, were not related events). My Masters project became a collection of poem which outlines a year in the grieving process. “De die in diem” is a 78 page book (representing my father’s 78 years on this earth) in which the poems work together to tell a story. A few of the pieces will find their way to this blog.
very interesting and thought provoking
